The entrance to one of the oldest pubs in London.

Overview

Open since 1667, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is one of the oldest pubs in London, its claim to fame that you can sit where Dickens sat. The building itself is small, with an alleyway leading to another street on one side, and a hall leading into this small pub. Twisting turns and dark, narrow passages lead into the common room, which is decorated with the history of the pub that has been around for so long, While the bar attracts a bit of tourism, it is easy to find a place for peace and quiet if need be. When all is said and done, the architecture is fascinating, the staff is friendly, and the alcohol is good.
