Gloom MUX is an original paranormal/horror game that pits player-created characters against supernatural entities from the realm that exists beneath our world, known as the Gloom by those who have been touched by its power. It takes place in present-day London and revolves around the activities of the Watch: a clandestine organization devoted to guarding the secret of the Gloom and protecting humanity from the creatures that have crossed from one dimension into the next.

Players take on the role of members of the Watch, their allies, and associates, whether they are new recruits only just beginning to learn about the Gloom and its inhabitants, or seasoned veterans with several decades of experience under their belt — the only thing they have in common is an investment, no matter how large or small, in the Watch's mission.

Gloom MUX draws inspiration from sources such as H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, the World of Darkness series by White Wolf Publishing, Supernatural, and ABC's short-lived television series The River. If you're short on ideas, we suggest checking out the following:

London is the capital city of England and the largest metropolitan zone in the European Union with an urban population of more than eight million people. It is also the location of the Watch's home base, and where Gloom MUX takes place.

Staff realizes that most players who join the game are from America, and so we strongly encourage people to do a little supplementary reading to get a feel for the country's culture (even if it isn't that much different than what they are probably used to). While it might not be the most reliable source of information on the internet, we've found that Wikipedia is a pretty good place to start. Time Ratio

Gloom MUX operates on a 1:1 time ratio. If it's August 13th, you can assume it's August 13th in-game unless you or your scene partners need it to be a different day — in which case it is whatever day you mutually agree on. There is always some wiggle room.
